Some of us don't like to be disturbed when sleeping. If we could, we would put a sign on our bedroom or bed space doors a "Do not disturb" sign that we see in hotel rooms. But God in all his wisdom often takes off these imaginary sign boards and purposely disturbs our sleep for the greater good of our own spiritual lives and for the sake of dying humanity. A baby's cry, a knock on our door or window, a frightening dream, an abnormally snoring spouse, he can disturb us in any way he chooses, just to make us get up and pray. Yet often we shake off his nudges and turn over to the other side cursing whatever disturbed our sleep.
Some have become callous in their attitude to the promptings of the Spirit of God. Why should an unbelieving dying humanity be our concern? Surely God can manage his world. Of course, he can. But he is always on the lookout for them who would rise up to a challenge; them who can stand in the gap and war for his kingdom. For every soul is of priceless value and one soul saved by prayer and intercession brings great joy in heaven.
Luke 15:7,10 WEB
I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.
Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting.
In this season, where the world is going through untold suffering because of the Corona virus, let's shake off our callous attitude to prayer and intercession and be sensitive to the nudgings and promptings of the Holy Spirit of God, rising up as warriors to see God establish his kingdom; meanwhile also preparing ourselves for the triumphant return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord.
