Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms, the glory of the Babylonians' pride,
will be overthrown by God like Sodom and Gomorrah. (Isaiah 13:19)
During Isaiah's times, Babylon was like "the jewel of kingdoms". It had
wonderful temples and gardens, a beautiful city. The hanging gardens of
Nebuchadnezzar were one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
Isaiah prophesied the destruction of this proud nation and it happened
as it was prophesied. Babylon fell to the Medes and the Persians. The
Persian King Xerxes I finally destroyed Babylon.
Every unfulfilled prophesy that we read of in the Bible will be
fulfilled sooner or later. However impossible it may seem, God can
change everything in a moment. He is Almighty. Regarding Him, Daniel,
the prophet said, "Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings
and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the
discerning. (Daniel 2:20, 21)
YES...."He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them........."
Praise be to his Holy Name.
