"You have heard that it was said to those of old, "You shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. (Matthew 5:27-30) (NKJV)
Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart........The same can be said of women who look at men to lust for them. Rather dicey situation this......And many believers would say that Jesus need not have been so strict....But then, there you are...That's the narrow path that he talked about.
If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you....And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you.....What's he saying here? Literally pluck out the eye or cut off the hand???? No! What he says here is "Let your attitude towards sin be like this. Root it out."
The Apostle Paul writes in like manner to the believers at Colosse:
Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. (Colossians 3:5)
To the Galatians, he writes,
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. (Galatians 5:17)
And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (Galatians 5:24)
Brothers and Sisters, That's the only solution to gain victory over such sins......Crucify the flesh with its passions and desires.
