We walk by faith, not by sight

Brother Andrew, famously known as the “God’s Smuggler,” dedicated his life to bringing Bibles into countries where Christianity was persecuted. One of the most inspirational incidents from his life occurred during a dangerous border crossing into Communist Czechoslovakia in the 1950s. His car was loaded with Bibles—an act strictly forbidden by the government. As he approached the border, he saw guards thoroughly inspecting every vehicle, even dismantling car interiors to search for contraband.

Realizing he had no way to hide the Bibles, Brother Andrew prayed a bold and simple prayer: “Lord, when You were on earth, You made blind eyes see. Now, I pray, make seeing eyes blind.” When his turn came, a guard looked briefly at his passport, waved him through without inspection, and said, “You can go.” Brother Andrew crossed safely with the Bibles untouched—an answer to prayer that he would experience many times throughout his ministry.

This story reflects the faith that God honors in those who trust Him completely. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “We walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7, NIV). Brother Andrew’s courage came not from his own strength but from his reliance on God’s power to make the impossible possible. His mission also embodied the Great Commission—“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19, ESV)—by bringing the Word of God to those who had no access to it.

Brother Andrew’s unwavering faith reminds us that when we obey God’s call, He can open doors that no human authority can shut. His story continues to inspire believers to trust God boldly, even when the risks are great, knowing that faith can overcome any barrier.
